Cape Three Points, Ghana
2012
Project: Working with American and Ghanaian high school students, I designed and built a small workshop at Trinity Yard School where students and community members would be able to repair their bicycles. Several important factors informed the design, including: the necessity for the workshop to operate with minimal oversight, the requirement that we use an existing structure due to limited construction resources, and the short window of time available to complete the project. The Ghana Service Learning Trip is a biannual project of my former employer, InterConnections 21, and Arcadia Service Learning in partnership with the Trinity Yard School.
Two American high school students help a TYS student install a front brake on his bicycle.
I demonstrate how a brake cable is properly installed as Samuel and two other students look on.
